Short description of your business:
I provide graphic design services, primarily for print, including brochures, illustration, logos, annual reports, advertisements, bookcovers, displays, flyers, menus, postcards, posters, event programs, signage, etc. I can also provide content and copywriting for your various business needs.
How long have you been in business?
I have been doing graphic design for over 25 years. I worked for 10 years as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator for the University of Washington. My own business, North Creek Design, was established in 2007.
How many employees are there?
Just me, so far.
How did your business start?
I wanted to work fewer hours and have more flexibility in my schedule while my son was still young and in elementary school. I also looked forward to having a variety of clients, and was curious about the challenge of making a go of it on my own.
Who is your ideal customer?
My ideal customer would be someone who can communicate a clear purpose and idea of what they want and need, is fairly decisive, and understands that creativity involves time and cost.
What is unique about you and your business that you feel distinguishes you among others offering similar products or service?
I think I offer a level of customer service that is above average, and high quality work at a very reasonable price. I want my clients to feel that our work together was comfortable and productive.
Tell us something that would surprise people about your business?
I also do quite a bit of content writing and can offer that with or without graphic design. Many graphics designers don’t like to touch copywriting.
Family information:
I am married to a Wildlife Biologist and have one son getting ready to go off to college. I’ve got one brother that lives in North Carolina.
Pets:
I have had my beagle dog, Aly, for 16 years. In her senior years, she is near completely blind and deaf. But she still loves people, and loves to eat!
Personal interests or hobbies:
I love to garden, read, hike, jog, eat healthy, organic foods, work out at the gym, do hot yoga, travel, scuba dive, watch movies, cook, and meet new people.
If money, or anything else, were no obstacle, something that you would do?
Travel more – Visit other countries, explore new places and learn about other cultures.
What is your favorite restaurant?
Hana Sushi on Main Street in Bothell. They have the freshest, tastiest sushi around!
What is your favorite color?
Burgundy.
What is your favorite candy bar or snack?
A good dark chocolate.
The most fun you have ever had?
Exploring the jungles of Costa Rica.
An interesting trip you have taken?
Riding in a hot air balloon over Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Tell us something that would surprise others to learn about you?
I have a degree in Biology, and I was a guide on whale-watch excursions in Southern California.
